Since “offline” it was not possible to ensure the safety of these people in stadiums, it was discussed creating a safe space online. For this, through an initiative promoted by ILGA Portugal, we developed 3D backgrounds of virtual stadiums full of pride, and we challenged the gamer community to use them while playing FIFA on Twitch during the World Cup. These pride stands were the only safe ones for the LGBTQIA+ community in Qatar. And we had two important allies: Dr. Nas Mohamed, Qatar's first gay man to come out publicly, and two-time FIFA champion Raquel Martinho.
